Today’s Message of Hope
“It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God … but with God all things are possible.” – Matthew 19:26

All Things are Possible
In the lesson of the Rich Young Ruler, Jesus shed a vivid and a tragic light on the danger of riches. Because it is impossible for a camel to go through the eye of a sewing needle, it would seem impossible for a rich man to get into the Kingdom of God. Yet, Jesus explained that even rich people can enter into the Kingdom of God if God brings them in. Money & riches have three main effects on a person’s outlook – they encourage a false independence – “Where your treasure is,” said Jesus, “there will your heart be also”, so riches can be a distraction – riches also have a tendency to make a person selfish. But Jesus did not say that it was impossible for a rich person to enter into the Kingdom of God. Faith in God, not in riches, is what really matters. God can open hearts, but if only we let Him. So what are we counting on for salvation?

Prayer for Today
Dear God, Thank You for helping me to make it through this difficult life. Thank You for carrying me through uncertain times. I am constantly aware of how much I need You, Your grace, Your strength and Your power to help me through tough days. Help me to focus more on You this week dear God, than on myself. In Jesus’ name. Amen
